A PLM solution for a big player in fashion retail

Our client is a world leader in luxury fashion e-commerce. It counts nearly 3 million active customers, 29 million monthly visitors, and a turnover (2016) of over 1.870 million euros. It has offices and logistics centers in Europe, United States, Japan and China and distributes to more than 180 countries worldwide.

In addition to distributing the products of leading luxury brands, the company also has several production lines, still with no PLM system.

THE NEED

In the situation described, product information was mainly managed with office automation tools.

The strong growth in sales led the company to adopt a system, then identified in Centric 8 PLM, which would allow a collaborative and open method of sharing information.

CENTRIC PLM  8: FEATURES

Management of processes, flows and information necessary in order to ensure product development from concept phase to industrialization, for both materials, semi-finished products or finished products.

The system allows the supply of data organized hierarchically and usable by all company departments across the board, according to roles and authorizations.

The web based application can also be used outside the company, thus offering the possibility of collaborating with external parties.

THE DEMAND

Project delivery in order to guarantee its use in the upcoming collection, all with multi-brand logics management.

In this project, an important reorganization of the internal coding logics and of methods for analyzing and managing costing and budget data was also envisaged.

In addition, a data export flow concerning orders towards the company’s ERP system was implemented.

METHODOLOGY

The implementation of the project was performed according to AGILE methodology.

Each application module was customized to specific business requirements dictated by the customer.

We released each module in independent and sequential phases in order to allow its use in company departments in a progressive manner.

The benefit of this methodology also consisted in anticipating the phases of testing and validation of releases, while at the same time guaranteeing the total usability of the PLM software in a functional manner.

THE BENEFITS

Time saving in data entry.

Greater control over the quality of information.

Use of a single tool for managing product development and traceability.

Introduction of a transversal collaboration tool for designers, collaborators, suppliers and business people.
